After your school admission process begins, if you meet the admission requirements for the course. The school will send your details to JAMB. Once your details is sent to JAMB, your admission status will change to Admission in Progress.
Once you see the Admission is being processed. Or admission in progress on CAPS. It means the school you applied considered you for admission, JAMB will begin reviewing your credentials. They’ll go through your Olevel, JAMB score, and A-level for Direct entry candidates.

There are various reasons why CAPS can change from Admission in Progress to Not ADMITTED The major reasons are.
1. Wrong Subject Combination
If it happens you’ve had a wrong JAMB subject combination and the school you applied considered you for admission, chances are the wrong subject combination can be noticed during the JAMB review process. Once it noticed instead of having your admission status change to ADMITTED it’s like going to change to NOT ADMITTED.
2. Deficiency in O-level
If it happens you failed one of your core O-level subject. For example the one needed for the course you applied. Once the problem is noticed your admission status is likely going to change from Admission in Progress to Not ADMITTED If the deficiency is noticed during the review by JAMB.
3. You didn’t Upload your OLevel on the JAMB portal.
Sometimes a candidate admission status can change from AIP to NOT ADMITTED If the candidate have not uploaded their O-level on the JAMB portal.
Sometimes CAPS can change from AIP to NOT ADMITTED Not because the candidate have done anything wrong from their own end. If a candidate is recommended for admission by the school admission officer and such candidates has a lower score as compared to other applicants who are more qualified. Such proposal can be drop by JAMB or the school VC hence leading to not ADMITTED.
How To Minimise The Chance of CAPS changing from AIP To NOT ADMITTED
While you await for your admission, here are things you can do to ensure the chance of your CAPS changing from AIP to NOT ADMITTED is at minimal.
1. Ensure you have the Correct subject combination, before you register for your JAMB UTME make sure you check your course JAMB subject combination. This will help you avoid wrong combination. You can visit https://jamb.gov.ng/ibass to check the subject combination of every course. You can also check your school portal for it’s admission requirements.
2. Ensure you don’t have a deficiency in your core O-level. At least a “credit” is required for all core subjects. If you don’t know your course core subject. The link provided for checking subject combination will allow you see your core subject combination.
3. In case of deficiency in a core O-level subject, use combine result, if you write WAEC and NECO and have a D in your Physics (WAEC) but your physics is C, B or A on NECO. Most universities allow use of combine result. Make sure to use that.
4. Last but not the least, ensure your OLevel is uploaded on the JAMB as that’s a core requirement for admission.
