If you have just been admitted into the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Congratulations, These post will guide you on the registration procedure for new students.

These article is helpful for both Direct entry students and the UTME/100Level students.

We will cover the physical screening, payment of school fees, course registration and Clicking of hostel for those interested in staying in the hostel.

After gaining admission the first thing that you’ll go through as a new student is the physical screening. One can only register after they’ve been screened.

Physical Screening

As we mentioned earlier the first thing you’ll go through after gaining admission in Ahmadu Bello University is the physical screening.

The Physical screening involve you bringing your documents and some staffs will go through it to make sure that the details you provide during the admission processing are correct.

Students. An only register once their physical screening is successful.

Documents Needed For ABU Physical Screening

  • JAMB admission letter
  • School admission letter
  • Alevel (For D.E students)
  • Indigeneship certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • JAMB result (for UTME candidates)
  • Primary school results/Testimonial

The document mentioned are the primary documents needed for the physical screening. After the physical screening.

Candidates will proceed to do their faculty and departmental screening. Other documents such as post UTME result is required by some departments.

To have a smooth physical screening, candidates are required to present documents that rhyme with each other, and have meet the OLevel, JAMB and A-level requirements pf their course.

Having different names on documents, or having a poor OLevel could cause trouble during physical screening.

Students with name issues on JAMB should go to any JAMB office to get it fix.

If the issue is on other documents. Candidates should do a Notary Public , as ABU have stopped accepting Court affidavits for Corrections of name.

Students with deficiency in their core OLevel subject or wrong JAMB combination will have their course changed! That’s why it’s advisable students should check the ABU subject combination for all courses during the admission process.

However if one meet every requirements and has no issues in their documents. Such student will have a smooth screening.

Checking Physical Screening Status

After a the screening candidates should head to their post UTME portal https://portal.abu.edu.ng/forms and check their screening status.

Here are the three screening status candidates should expect.

  1. Qualified (this means the candidates have been successfully screened and have no issues)
  2. Not Screened ( This means the candidates have not done their screening yet. If you have done your screening and after Several days it’s still saying Not screen you may need to follow up)
  3. Disqualified ( The students did the screening but they’ve been disqualify for one of the reasons we mentioned earlier on this article) . The way out is to go though one documents and understand what caused the disqualification. If one understands what caused the disqualification they can go to the senate and ask for solutions.

After a successful screening (portal change to Qualified) the next step is the registration. Below is how to register.

  • Visit the ABU student portal: https://portal.abu.edu.ng
  • Login with JAMB Number as user name and state as password.
  • After a successful login, personal students portal will be open with menu like, Dashboard, Profile, fees, courses registration etc.

Proceed to upload all necessary information/biodata in the profile area,

Information like, Phone number, email, place of birth, passport, signature, relationship status, religion, contact and home address are necessary and have to be uploaded.

How To Pay School Fees

After you done with updating your biodata the next step is paying school fees. To pay the school fees Click fees section from the portal.

From the fees section you’ll see the amount you’re supposed to pay.

Click pay, you’ll have the option to either use the ABU wallet to pay or use Remita. If you have any issues during the payment do well to tell us the issues using the comments section below. We will be sure to answer you.

Courses registration

This is the process of registering the courses one will take for the semester.

As a new student you’ll need help from those in the higher level in your department. For 100 Level ask those in 200level for their course form(preferably contact the class rep). For Direct entry students also seek help from the class rep of your level they’ll help you with that.

Accomodation

These is the last step of the registration, for those who want to stay in the school hostel the ABU accommodation fee is #20,000 only.

The school usually have a time frame for opening of the hostel Clicking/Booking time.

Clicking of hostel is competitive in ABU. The best get click quickly. Ensure you follow up with the accommodation portal opening day. So as you to enable you make reservations in time.
